Is this Wine any good after so many years? Prefer answer from wine connoisseur?
We have a tall (19 in.) cobalt blue bottle of wine that we got one Christmas and we kept it in a cabinet as decoration waiting for the right occasion to open it and we forgot it lol. It's a 2001 Gaetano D'Aquino Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie IGT (for those who know anything about wine, I don't) Anyway it's a nice bottle. It has a wide round base and get's very slender up top. Kind of like a triangle shape. Anyway my question is this: Did we store it too long and will it taste bad or can we go ahead and chill it to drink? What do you think?
Thanks guys for the answers. I did store it upright so you bring up an excellent point regarding the drying out of the cork. I have a feeling I'm left with vinegar here. I was just going to keep it as decoration because it really is a pretty bottle but I just got an idea, I think I will open it, good or bad, I'm keeping the bottle anyway lol.
